Get Paid for Using Flatn

Where Does the Money Come From?

Each Flatn'd Link you create automatically contains a small advertisement located in a special area along the bottom edge of the Web browser. The rest of the browser window is used for displaying the original Web address you entered at the time the Flatn'd Link was created.

When the people who view your link click an advertisement they are interested in, a small amount of money is paid to Flatn by the ad sponsor.

We split this money with you 50/50.

Using advanced search-engine technologies, the advertisement chosen is specific and relevant to the original Web site you are sharing.

Payment

At the end of the month we'll deposit half of all the money your Flatn'd Links have generated for that month directly into your PayPal account.

Flatn never requires any authorization or personal information. We only need to know the E-Mail address you used to set up your PayPal account, so that we can make deposits into it.

To get started earning, just enter your PayPal account's E-Mail address when you create a Flatn'd Link from the Flatn.com homepage as described below.

How Much Will I Earn?

Earnings depend on the number of people who are exposed to a Flatn'd Link. Generally there tends to be earnings of about $1.00 for every 1000 people who view your link, but this really depends on the number of people that are interested in the advertisements shown.

If your earnings for a given month are less than the PayPal minimum transacation amount (about $1.50), Flatn will automatically hold over the earnings for you and deposit them at the end of the next month when they grow past the minimum. You never risk losing any money you've earned.

There's no limit to how much money you can earn each month. The more people who go to your Flatn'd Link the more people who are likely to be interested in the ads.

How Do I Get Started?

1. Go to the Flatn.com homepage.

2. In the first field, enter a complete Web address (including the initial http:// part). The size of this field will grow to accomodate adresses of any length.

3. In the second field, type a unique name for your Flatn'd Link. For instance "Matt's party in oakland".

   • By default, a randomly chosen word-pair will be filled in, like "smooth-rock" or "salad-monkey". This can help if you're in a hurry or just can't think of a good name.

   As you type, Flatn will quickly check if the name is already taken, as well as showing you what will become the full Flatn'd Link web address.

   • Remember, choosing a short, descriptive name for your Flatn'd Link means people can remember it, and are more likely to pass it on.

4. In the third field, enter the PayPal E-Mail address you used to sign up for PayPal's service. Your earnings for the Flatn'd Link you create will be deposited each month into this account, as described above.

   • To save time in the future, you can choose to have your Web browser remember what you type by clicking the "Remember me" checkbox.

5. Click the "Share now!" button to create your new Flatn'd Link. You will then be forwarded on to the created link's Web address.

   This address is what you will send around to share your link.

   • It will look like http://flatn.com/matts-party-in-oakland for the example used in Step #2.

   You can now copy the address from your browser's location bar and insert it into an email, your Web log, or an IM conversation.

6. Tell everyone about your newly created Flatn'd Link just as you would have done with the original Web address.

Your Flatn'd Link will exist forever, so people can rely on it to work when they share it too.
